What does the Privileged Suite at Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort and Spa look out on?
The Privileged Suite has a garden view, so expect greenery rather than a direct ocean outlook. The suite is reached along exterior corridors. The beach, the Privileged pool and the BLoved restaurant are all part of the resort grounds.
How are the beds arranged, and how many people can the Privileged Suite sleep?
The suite has 1 king bed and 1 double sofa bed and sleeps up to 4 guests in 376 sq. ft. The king bed is in the bedroom and the sofa bed is in the living area. That works well for a couple with two children, or two couples who don't mind a sofa bed. The resort cannot add cots or extra beds to rooms, so plan around the beds already in the suite.
What is the bathroom like?
It is a private bathroom with a shower and a rainfall showerhead. It comes stocked with free toiletries, a hair dryer, towels, bathrobes and slippers.
What do guests in the Privileged Suite get that other guests do not?
Privileged guests get club lounge access with light refreshments, a lunch reception and a separate check-in location. They also have a Privileged-access pool, a separate beach area and the BLoved à la carte restaurant on the private beach, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Pure Chill Out Bar on the beach is reserved for Privileged guests. You also get one access per stay to the water areas of the Alegría Spa, 24-hour room service, and a 10% discount on massages and treatments (reservation required). Spa treatments themselves cost extra.
Is the Privileged Suite suitable for families with children?
Yes. Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort and Spa is a family-friendly all-inclusive resort, and the Privileged section is not marketed as adults-only. The suite sleeps four, and in-room childcare is available for a surcharge. The resort also runs a supervised Kids' Club for ages 4 to 12 and has a children's pool among its five outdoor pools. Guests under 18 are not admitted to the Alegría Spa, so parents who want spa time will need to arrange childcare.
How close is the Privileged Suite to the beach, pools and restaurants?
The resort has direct access to a private natural beach about a 5-minute walk away, with umbrellas provided. Privileged guests also have their own beach area and pool. Dining includes buffet restaurants such as La Brisa, plus à la carte restaurants for Italian, Mexican, steakhouse and Japanese teppanyaki dinners. À la carte dinners need reservations, and Guest Relations handles them. I can't tell you the walking time from a particular suite, since that depends on where it is assigned.
What in-room comforts should I know about?
The suite has air conditioning, a ceiling fan and blackout drapes for sleeping well in the heat. It also has a plasma TV with cable and premium channels, free Wi-Fi, a coffee and tea maker, a minibar, free bottled water and an iron with ironing board. What are check-in and check-out times, and is there an age requirement?
Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and check-out is by 12:00 noon. Privileged guests use a separate check-in location. The minimum check-in age is 18, and guests under 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian. Bring photo ID and a credit card, as the resort may pre-authorize the card as a guarantee.
Is the Privileged Suite a good choice for couples or a longer stay?
Yes. The club lounge, the Privileged pool and beach area, BLoved and 24-hour room service make longer stays easy. The resort is all-inclusive, with free non-motorized water sports such as snorkeling and kayaking. The Puerto Aventuras marina is roughly a 9 to 15 minute walk away. Couples can also book Alegría Spa treatments, with a 10% Privileged discount.
